Crew Clothing Ambassadors

A few months ago I got a wonderful phone call. It was Crew Clothing asking me if I could photograph loads of interesting people who they sponsor - I of course said yes. So a few weeks later and I'm off meeting an array of fascinating people and taking their photos in cool places.

Louisa Reeve for Crew Clothing

_MG_1711-Edit

I've recently had the great pleasure of working with Crew Clothing to photograph many of their ambassadors. They have brought together a small group of fascinating people to support and it has been so much fun meeting them all.

Louisa Reeve is a member of the the GB Rowing Team, and an experienced olympic athlete. Having competed in Beijing she is ready to rock for London 2012. She is a very relaxed individual and when asked if she fancied a trip in a boat she was well up for it. So there I was being propelled along in a tiny dingy by an olympic rower - not your normal experience, but a good one all the same.  It was great fun and ultimately I think this shows in the pictures I took.

I've recently had the great pleasure of working with Crew Clothing to photograph many of their ambassadors. They have brought together a small group of fascinating people to support and it has been so much fun meeting them all.

Tanya is one of the founders of Toe in the Water a charity that helps injured servicemen to get into competitive sailing. A small blonde woman who is a bit shy in front of the camera might not be the type that you would imagine surrounding herself with burly men who've been to war. But Tanya has an amazing heart and spends her whole time doing her bit to make these men feel excited and useful and part of a team. The Toe in the Water teams compete regularly with against able bodied crews and do very well in many of their races.

Emily Baldwin for Crew Clothing

I've recently had the great pleasure of working with Crew Clothing to photograph many of their ambassadors. They have brought together a small group of fascinating people to support and it has been so much fun meeting them all.

On a hot and sunny morning I drove to Kent to photograph international horse rider Emily Balwin. Emily rides in eventing competitions doing dressage, show jumping and cross country riding at an incredibly high level. She is heading off to the olympics soon, and was a pleasure to photograph. When I arrived at her stables I realised that I could spend 4 days there taking photos - it had so many interesting places to shoot. But I only had a morning to get some great shots for Crew. A quick scout later and we cracked on with the job: for me this involved lying in some hay until my allergies got the better of me, then wading into a stream and getting my feet wet.

Boccia is a bowling sport designed for people who are in a wheelchair and have motor difficulties, such as cerebral palsy. Jess Hunter and Andrew Morgan compete internationally and will be heading to the paralympics this summer in London. We had loads of fun with Jess, Andy and their coaches on a sunny afternoon at their college. They all like to take the piss out of each other and laugh almost non-stop.

I've recently had the great pleasure of working with Crew Clothing to photograph many of their ambassadors. They have brought together a small group of fascinating people to support and it has been so much fun meeting them all.

Jamie cooke is a modern pentathlete on the GB Team and spends his time training in Bath or traveling the globe to compete in many international events. A bit of a cheeky bloke with a great sense of humour, he was well up for jumping in the pool on our shoot. So after a bit of a struggle to get access at the location we finally dunked Jamie and photographed him exactly how I wanted too.

Dee Caffari for Crew Clothing

I've recently had the great pleasure of working with Crew Clothing to photograph many of their ambassadors. They have brought together a small group of fascinating people to support and it has been so much fun meeting them all.

Dee Caffari is the only woman to have sailed around the world non-stop three times. And she has done two of these journeys alone, including her first going the wrong way on a 6 month long voyage. She cannot stop being enthusiastic when you meet her. She loves life and wants to share her passion with others. She now helps injured service men sail competitively with Toe in the Water, trains and competes with the worlds first Arabic all women sailing team, has an MBE, and is constantly looking to do more things to push her limits. She was great fun to photograph.

I've recently had the great pleasure of working with Crew Clothing to photograph many of their ambassadors. They have brought together a small group of fascinating people to support and it has been so much fun meeting them all.

Mark Wood used to compete on the world circuit windsurfing. He travelled the globe from beach to beach and was even 'Mr August' for The Sun at one point. Nowadays he plays a more behind the scenes role but still a vitally important one in the world of international sailing. He is the National Technical Officer for the Olympic and Paralympic sailing events - meaning that he is in charge of setting the courses everyday, accessing the weather and determining the best and fairest way to test the worlds top sailers. An all-round fascinating bloke to chat to, if you ever get the chance to have a pint with him do, he's got loads of great stories.

Wellies

_MG_9259-Clift

A quick and fun lifestyle shoot in a beautiful river in Devon. Olga and I were having a great laugh and ended up a bit covered in water. It's aways great to shoot in such a relaxed way, it gives the pictures an honesty that I feel shines through.
